Shawna Stillwell IMFT-S
Finding the right fit in a therapist is so important. I'm glad you're taking the time to read through this.
I specialize somewhere within the intersection of neurodivergence, anxiety, and trauma. The most transformational work I have done has been with clients who are ready to develop awareness around internal and intergenerational cycles. My ultimate aim is to help you become reacquainted with yourself, find balance, and develop authenticity.
I offer virtual psychotherapy sessions to clients in Ohio, Illinois, and New York. I am Level 1 trained in Internal Family Systems through the IFS Institute and I have completed a Meditation Teacher Training through The Path.

Areas of Focus
Anxiety
Are you feel overwhelmed with your thoughts and it's impacting your sleep, mood, and relationships?
Trauma
Do you find that you're still thinking about scary or hard things that happened in your past? Or do you feel like you're trapped in cycles that happened generations before you?
Neurodivergence
Have you always felt like you are different from everyone else? Are you struggling to figure out how to make things work in a society that seems like it's made for everyone but you?
My Approach
I believe therapy is unique for each person, and I enjoy the process of getting to know each client and their individual experiences and needs. The thread that extends through all session is my goal is to bring authenticity, compassion, warmth, honesty, and humor to the therapeutic relationship.
I don’t believe that I have all the answers for you, and I can’t promise that I will make everything better. I can tell you that I will listen compassionately and I will work collaboratively with you, using a combination of your innate wisdom and my experience, to try to help you find more peace. I want to walk alongside you as you go inside and find the inner you that you’re feeling disconnected from right now. I believe you have all the answers within you and I can help you re-discover them. I will always aim for an honest, authentic therapeutic relationship in which we can communicate directly and openly.
I provide services for clients in Ohio, Illinois, and New York through Zoom. The primary framework for my approach as a therapist is Internal Family Systems (IFS). I may also bring in elements of psychodynamic theory, mindfulness, attachment theory, and the tri-phasic trauma treatment model.

How long is each therapy session?
The majority of therapy sessions will last between 50-60 minutes. There may be times that we need to have a longer or shorter session but we will discuss this beforehand.
How long will I be in therapy?
This is a really hard question to answer, and it is highly dependent upon the individual. The biggest factors that impact the length of therapy tend to be the amount of trauma you have experienced and the degree to which your daily life is disrupted by your symptoms. Other factors that might influence length of therapy include external supports, medication, and engagement in the therapeutic process.
